The Hammers have endured a tiresome transfer saga with Carvahlo, so they are preparing back up options as the transfer window draws to a close.
Slaven Bilic has also voiced his interest in Jack Wilshire as another option to bolster his midfield.
Tottenham could cause also cause a deadline day tug of war with Bilic's side, as the North London outfit look to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to Champions League football.
Juventus and Manchester United have also indicated their interest in the wantaway midfielder.
Gomes remains under contract with Barcelona until 2021, but the Spanish club are willing to temporarily offload the Portuguese international.
The midfielder was pivotal to the success of the Portugal side that beat France to the European Championship title last year.
With just one cap under his belt so far this term, the 24-year-old is prepared for a deadline day switch.
