Mayweather knocked the UFC star down in the tenth round of his boxing debut at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Months of preparation and trash talk whittled down to a one-sided schooling by the American, who now boasts a glittering 50-0 record.
Mayweather let McGregor throw some punches at him in the first three rounds to suss him out but then turned on the class to win the fight.
Viewers moaned about the way the American beat Manny Pacquiao in 2015 and Mayweather recognised that.
