Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather could have 7,000 EMPTY SEATS as ticket sales hit the buffers at the T-Mobile Arena
THERE could be 7,000 empty seats for the Las Vegas mega-fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.
With just days before the two global superstars go toe-to-toe at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, there are still rows and rows of seats available.
While there are a number of resale seats going, with buyers obviously keen to make a profit, the worry is the huge raft of standard-price seating still available.
It points towards the decision-makers getting the pricing system very wrong for the mega-event.
While a lot of it will have been geared towards stopping illegal touting - tickets had to be purchased from the venue - the fact that in one block there are 56 seats still free means something has gone wrong.
The cheapest ticket is available is £390 ($500), with the most expensive going for around £84,000 ($107,000).
BBC boxing correspondent Mike Costello has admitted "tickets are not flying off the shelves" despite the fight being one of the most-talked about of all time.
Most of the resale seats that were bought for £390 are now going for at least three times that amount.

But Mayweather Promotions chief Leonard Ellerbe isn’t terribly concerned. He says the fight will not only sell out, but break records for the richest gate.

👊🏾Mayweather v McGregor: Betting Preview👊🏾
By Dave Kidd, The Sun's Chief Sports Writer
"MAYWEATHER is going to play around for six or seven rounds, give the vast audience their money's worth, then take McGregor out"
ADD TO BETSLIP:
He said: “We’re very excited and very happy with ticket sales so far.
"We're well on our way to smashing our own record which transcended the sport."
That record was a £54,974,873 gate set by Mayweather in his 2015 fight with Manny Pacquiao - three times bigger than any other boxing gate.
Ellerbe added that the fight "wasn't going to sell out in seconds as "it wasn't a Rolling Stones concert".
He added: "When you are talking about tickets going from $500 to $10,000, (£3,850 to (£7,700) that’s an expensive ticket.
“So you have every CEO from every major company. You know, guys, it takes time to plan and get it together.”
