Manchester City head down new glass-panel tunnel to kick off Everton fixture in sublime style
The Citizens test out their new Tunnel Club tonight - which allows fans to watch the players in the tunnel through mirrored glass
MANCHESTER CITY host Everton on home turf tonight, but this is the first time that the Citizens have played at the newly-renovated Etihad stadium.
The two teams lined up in the stadium’s new tunnel – which allow’s VIP fan’s to watch their side closely from behind mirrored glass.
Members of the Tunnel Club will receive the finest dining in the stadium and will be able to watch the players from within touching distance as they step out on to the pitch.
These exclusive members also receive a tactical briefing from one of Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff.
This glass-panelled tunnel is the first of its kind in English sport, so it may take some getting used to for Guardiola’s side.
The City side will also prepare for the Premier League meeting inside of a brand new dressing room.
Guardiola requested a new circular home dressing area – which will be used tonight for the very first time.
The Etihad stadium now features a sleek, modern design throughout and a complete revamp of the Colin Bell stand.
Additional warm-up areas have also been added to the stadium.
The Etihad was long overdue a makeover, with the behind-the-scenes areas not having been altered in over six years.
Manchester City will be hoping to continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League tonight, after thumping Brighton in the league’s opening fixture.
However, the Toffees stunned City with a 4-0 thrashing at Goodison Park last term, so Guardiola’s side will be keen for revenge.
