Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor: Why did the fighters argue over 8oz and 10oz gloves?
Ahead of mega-money fight in Vegas, McGregor has welcomed decision to fight with 8oz gloves
THERE has been plenty of trash talking between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor as they prepare for their historic bout in Las Vegas.
But the latest disagreement has been over something which could impact the fight in a massive way.
The fighters will now be using 8oz gloves instead of 10oz gloves which are usually used for any fight above welterweight - with some experts saying the decision to use them this weekend is irresponsible.
Why did the fighters argue over 8oz or 10oz gloves?
LIGHTER gloves will most likely give Conor McGregor a boost in a boxing contest where, on paper, he's likely to be outclassed.
In 2006, the Nevada commission opted to use gloves above 10oz for anyone fighting above welterweight, citing concerns for safety.
But this decision to allow the fighters to grapple with the 8oz pair has boosted McGregor, who boasted he would beat Floyd 'within two rounds' with the new gloves.

"MAYWEATHER is going to play around for six or seven rounds, give the vast audience their money's worth, then take McGregor out"
ADD TO BETSLIP:
The lighter gloves have less padding over the knuckles and are believed to favour the heavier puncher.
McGregor believes that he is just that - and says he will benefit from this controversial change.
But Money doesn't seem fazed and has taken the change in his stride, pointing out he's worn the 80z's most of his career.
The unbeaten American has worn them in 45 out of 49 fights, and has made his disdain for 10oz versions very clear.
In 2007 he called the heavier mitts 'pillows' - after going up the weights to fight Oscar De La Hoya.
