Before his fight to Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather said:  If it wasn't for Al Haymon… I wouldn't be where I'm at today."

Who is Al Haymon?

LITTLE is known about the illusive advisor, who grew up in Cleveland and ironically went to same school as the legendary Don King.

After graduating Harvard, he went into the music industry but didn't get into boxing until 2000, when he became manager of US fighter Vernon Forrest.

From that point on, he's amassed a huge portfolio of over 100 fighters, including Mayweather, and launched the hugely successful Premier Boxing Champions.

Very little is known about his professional life and even less about his private life, rarely giving interviews or interacting with the press.

Haymon splits opinion in the sport, with some claiming that he is violating the Ali Act, which attempts to stop promoters doubling up as managers.

But others see him as the saviour of boxing, bringing it back to the masses on free-to-air TV, with Don King saying in 2015 'I’m proud of Al Haymon, he’s doing a great job.'

Mayweather said himself: " If it wasn't for Al Haymon… I wouldn't be where I'm at today."

A ringing endorsement and a key player behind this mega-money fight with McGregor.
