Usain Bolt to open a chain of fast-food restaurants in the UK following his retirement from athletics
Jamaican superstar already has an eatery in Kingston and is launching 15 Tracks & Records outlets in the UK
USAIN BOLT has announced he is opening a chain of fast-food restaurants in the UK following his retirement from athletics.
Bolt, who famously liked to chow down on burgers and chicken nuggets even at the height of his career, is preparing to launch 15 Tracks & Records outlets over the next five years.
Track & Records was launched in Kingston, Jamaica, in 2011.
The sprinter is launching the UK venture with Jamaican franchise company Franjam, in which he is a partner.
He has signed a deal with the SME Group, a private holding company focusing on fast food and hotel franchises, to finance the project.
The restaurants will offer traditional Jamaican dishes such as jerk pork, janga soup and pan chicken as well as the athlete’s own creation “burgers a la Usain”, according to the Caterer magazine.
Bolt said: “London has always been a special place for me [and this] is giving us the opportunity to share our vision and our culture with you all.”
Despite a disappointing end to his career at the UK Athletics Championships this month, where he took bronze in the 100m and crashed out of the 4x100m relay due to injury, Bolt is still the world record holder for the 100m and 200m.

After the World Championships in London, Bolt posted an X-ray of his torn hamstring and is now set for three-months of rehab.
While celebrating his retirement, it was reported Bolt ran up an astonishing bill worth £6500 while partying with fans.
Generous Bolt, who won eight Olympic gold medals, also gave a tip of £500 in cash.
