Luis Suarez facing a month on sidelines as Barcelona’s crisis worsens — he will also miss two Uruguay’s World Cup qualifiers
Catalan giants face yet more bad news as they will be without one of their biggest superstars as the season gets underway
LUIS SUAREZ will face a month out as Barcelona's early-season crisis continued.
The 30-year-old picked up a knock in his side's 2-0 defeat against Real Madrid in the second-leg of the Spanish Super Cup clash.
The Catalan giants were thumped 5-1 on aggregate to their bitter rivals ahead of the new La Liga season.
And having already lost Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain new manager Ernesto Valverde could also be without their key forward.
Suarez pulled up late in the clash at the Bernabeu and with all three substitutes already made, he reluctantly saw the rest of the match out.
As well as the start of the La Liga season, he will miss Uruguay's World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Paraguay.
The famed MSN will now be just M for the start of the season, after Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking after the morale crushing defeat, Valverde said: "It is a knock on his knee but we will have to wait to assess the situation."
Valverde is facing the increasingly tough task of winning over the Barca fans following a difficult summer.
They have so far failed to replace Neymar as they struggle to complete deals for transfer targets Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.
But they did splash out £36.5million of their transfer warchest... on former Spurs flop Paulinho.
Barca fans would be even more frustrated learning that their Real Madrid nemesis Marco Asensio could have joined them for as a little as £4.5m.
But the club refused to pay Mallorca their asking price in 2014.
