GARETH Bale has hired ex-SAS minders to guard his family home in Wales.
Sources said the football superstar has spent £500,000 on security officers, guard dogs and a surveillance system.
A neighbour said of Bale’s converted farmhouse: “It’s like Colditz in there, they have really pepped up security.
“You can see guards patrolling the perimeter.”
It comes as the father of Bale’s fiancee Emma returns to Wales after being freed from prison in the US.
Martin Rhys-Jones, 53, gained enemies with a worldwide investment fraud that saw him jailed for five years.
He was freed early after “finding God” in prison.
Gareth, 27, and Emma, 26, fear a revenge attack by one of his victims.

The move by the Real Madrid and Wales ace also follows a year of threats and intimidation linked to a gang feud that has hit his family.
Emma’s grandparents and other relatives were firebombed after getting caught up in a drugs vendetta.
She and Gareth were ad- vised to boost security in Madrid and at their £4million Vale of Glamorgan home.
A relative of the couple, said: “Gareth is very worried by what’s been going on.”
