Mo Farah keeps his world double-distance bid alive after easing into 5,000m final at the World Championships

Brit hero finishes second despite being battered and bruised as he now looks to add the 10,000m crown to his collection

MO FARAH’S world double-distance bid is still on after he eased into Saturday’s 5,000m showdown despite feeling cold and miserable.

Farah won the 10,000m title last Saturday when he left the track battered and bruised and needing three stitched to his leg after he was tripped.

But he recovered in time for last night’s heats and clocked 3:30.18 to finish second with Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha winning in 3:30.07 on a rain-sodden track.

The 34 year-old Farah admitted: “I’m cold and miserable out there but it’s job done. The 10,000m did take it out of me.

“I was a little bit beaten up.

“I’m OK now and glad I’ve come through tonight. Now to get ready for the final.

“I went to stay in Teddington because that’s where my family are now and I was like ‘No, I need to get back to the hotel’.

“I only stayed one night.”
