Newcastle target West Ham goalkeeper Adrian after the East London club scooped Joe Hart
The Magpies are preparing to make a move for Hammers star Adrian, according to reports
NEWCASTLE are considering making a move for West Ham keeper Adrian, according to reports.
The Spaniard is on the lookout for a new starting job after being squeezed out at the club following the arrival of Joe Hart.
Sky Sports sources have claimed that the Magpies are targeting the former Betis man ahead of the new season.
Despite extending his current contract with the Hammers by a further two years, Adrian looks set to play a back-up role to Hart - who signed from Manchester City on a season-long loan.
Hart has been brought in to be the first choice for manager Slaven Bilic, leaving Adrian facing the prospect of a year on the bench as understudy.
The report also claims that West Ham would only sanction a sale if they can find a replacement for the 30-year-old.
Adrian has been at the club for four seasons since arriving from Real Betis in 2013 on a free transfer.
He has made 123 appearances – but only made 19 starts last term.
And with the World Cup just a year away, Adrian has been told he needs regular playing time to stand a chance of being picked by Spain.
