Arsenal vs Chelsea – Community Shield team news: Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil out for the Gunners, while Eden Hazard and Tiemoue Bakayoko are absent for Blues
Arsene Wenger rests the Chilean after he was given an extended break following Confederations Cup run
ALEXIS SANCHEZ and Mesut Ozil will sit out Arsenal's Community Shield clash with Chelsea.
Eden Hazard and Tiemoue Bakayoko are absent for the Blues as the teams prepare to do battle at Wembley.
But Pedro is starting after his head injury and Alvaro Morata is named on a strong bench alongside fellow signing Antonio Rudiger.
Alexandre Lacazette will lead the line for Arsenal as the new arrival is given another chance to impress following his club-record switch.
Sanchez missing out was to be expected after Arsene Wenger confirmed playing the Chilean would be a risk.
He said: "For us it’s important to build his [Sanchez's] fitness and put him in a reasonable condition before we expose him to tough tests. Maybe he will play.
"He looks good. He had a good rest so needs to work on his fitness. But once he’s in a game he’s sharp and looks like he’s never been away."
Aaron Ramsey is another high-profile absentee for the Gunners as he comes back from a muscle problem.
