Heavyweight powerhouse Daniel Dubois ready to take on rival AJ Carter after just four fights as a professional
Undefeated giant faces AJ at the Copper Box Arena in East London on September 16
DANIEL DUBOIS is ready to take on heavyweight rival AJ after just four fights as a professional.
The undefeated heavyweight giant faces AJ at the Copper Box Arena in East London on September 16.
But the AJ in the opposite corner will be Londoner AJ Carter and not world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua!
He takes on Carter for the Southern Area title determined to burst into the world rankings as quickly as possible.
He said: “This is a big step up for me. AJ has proved how tough he can be inside the ropes so it will be up to me to make it business as usual.
“The aim is to fight for a more significant titles within a year and for that to happen I have to stay unbeaten.
“It’s a ten rounder so there will be more pressure on me when you take into account that so far I have not gone past the second round.”
Meanwhile British champion Frank Buglioni has snubbed an offer of around £100,000 from promoter Frank Warren to defend his light heavyweight title against Anthony Yarde.
Warren will leave the offer on the table until the close of play on Friday in the hope there will be a change of mind.
Warren said: “No matter what happens Anthony will fight on the show at the Copper Box on September 16.
“We have made a firm offer for Frank to fight. It's a big offer but we are not going to wait around another eight months for the other fights to be decided before Anthony fights for the British title.
“The most sensible thing would be for Frank to say yes and take this fight now.
"Frank should come and have a big payday with us. If he has any ambitions to fight for a world title, facing Yarde would be his chance to gatecrash the world rankings and he could take it from there.
"I can remember when Naseem Hamed was boxing and few would step up to the plate to fight him. He got on with his own career without them and eventually left them all trailing his his wake.
“The same thing could happen with Anthony."
