Kylian Mbappe ‘wants to quit Monaco for Real Madrid because he feels let down by French side’
Teenage star disillusioned by exodus of star players from Ligue 1 champions, with Manchester City also poised to swoop
KYLIAN MBAPPE is ready to swap Monaco for Real Madrid after becoming disillusioned by the exodus of top players from the French champions.
With Manchester City also on alert, the 18-year-old striker is reported to have lost faith in the Ligue 1 club after seeing the likes of Bernardo Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Benjamin Mendy leave.
Mbappe and his father, Wilfried, were apparently in agreement with the idea that one more year at Monaco would help the teenager's development before a mega-move.
However, an exodus that has seen Silva and Mendy join City, and Bakayoko become a Chelsea player, is said to have exasperated the player and his dad.
Real are understood to have lined up a world record £143million move for Mbappe, with the Spanish giants apparently trying to offload Karim Benzema to Arsenal.
Big-spending City boss Pep Guardiola, who has spent over £200m already this summer, has refused to rule out a swoop for Mbappe.
Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with the French teenager.
But with Mbappe having grown up idolising Cristiano Ronaldo and Real - and Los Blancos president Florentino Perez determined to sign him - he seems more likely to end up at the Bernabeu.
Real's Brazilian midfield general Casemiro has admitted that the Madrid club perhaps do not even need to sign Mbappe.
“We’re aware that he’s a great player, but we’ve also got the BBC [Bale, Benzema and Cristiano], who can wreak real havoc,” said Casemiro.
“The more players we have, the better it is for us. That said, the best players are already here.”
