Leicester are on the verge of signing the young Nigerian hotshot for a fee of £25million.

Despite Iheanacho's impressive scoring record of a goal every 132 minutes of Premier League football last season, Guardiola has allowed the striker to leave the club to continue his development.

But the boss has conceded that it might not be the last time supporters will see him in a Man City shirt.

Speaking at a press conference in the US, he said: "Kelechi is a young player. It was easy, an honour to work with him, because it's not easy for him, I didn't give him a lot of choices.

"But he's close to making a transfer. Maybe in the next week, in the next 10 days, it's going to finish.

"We'll have an option to have the opportunity in a few years to bring him back.

"But he's a young player and we believe he deserves to play, he needs to play at that age and that's why the club will decide what's best for him."

Meanwhile Man City have been knocked back in their bid to sign Monaco's Benjamin Mendy.

The Premier League giants lodged a £44.5m bid which was rejected as Monaco hold out for £50m.
