George Groves reveals he could QUIT the sport if he wins the World Boxing Super Series tournament
Hammersmith fighter will face Jamie Cox in the quarter-finals, and could clash with domestic rival Chris Eubank in the semis
GEORGE GROVES has admitted he could RETIRE if he wins the World Boxing Super Series.
The Hammersmith hitter is one of eight boxers who will take his place in the brand new tournament of super middleweights, with the victor bagging the Muhammad Ali Trophy.
Groves will face Swindon man Jamie Cox in his quarter-final fight, setting up the prospect of an all-English semi-final showdown against Chris Eubank Jnr.
And incredibly if Groves gets his hands on the silverware, he has said he could quit boxing for good.
Speaking after the draw was made in Monte Carlo, Groves said: “If I win this tournament I could walk away from boxing satisfied as a unified world champion.
"But, then again, if they want to do it the following year at light heavy then I might get involved in that too.
"You can go into this as an unknown and come out a pound-for-pound star.
"I’m the only current world champion in it and I want to be the only current world champion in it at the end.
"I think this is the perfect chance for me to show I’m the best super-middleweight.
"You haven’t got all the top guys in there but you got a lot. The ones that are fit to fight right now are in it."
The prospect of meeting Eubank Jnr in the semi-finals has left British boxing fans salivating at the prospect of domestic dust-up.
Eubank bagged his place in the tournament after he outpointed former world champ Arthur Abraham at the weekend.

But Groves doesn't think Eubank poses him any threat.
He said: "There is nothing for me to worry about. He's limited.
And on the skills Eubank brings to the ring, he added: "Power? He couldn't hurt Abraham."
But Eubank has promised that Groves' title is going back with him.
Speaking to after he easily outpointed Abraham, the 27-year-old said: "Deep down he knows that that title is coming home with me.
"We both have fights around September time, I'm going to win mine if he's going to win his then we will meet early next year.
"Groves, he holds the title, that's the only guy I'm looking at, I don't care about any of the rest."
