JUAN MATA believes there is still hope Alvaro Morata could join him at Manchester United.
Old Trafford chiefs were priced out of a move for the Spain striker by Real Madrid and went for £75million Romelu Lukaku instead.
But Jose Mourinho has always seen combining the two as a possibility and Mata insists his Spain teammate is still a potential signing.
Mata told "It looks tough to see Alvaro Morata in a Red Devils shirt with the arrival of Romelu.
"We've signed an important player in attack and it's difficult, although you never know.
"Things can happen in the last few days, but I wish Alvaro the best."
Real are keen to bring David De Gea to Spain this summer after two failed swoops.
United are demanding £60m-plus for the Spanish No1 and are hoping Los Blancos cannot make the deal without breaking FFP rules.

And is confident the two-time United player of the year will remain at the club - adding: "I think De Gea will stay."
