After his defeat, Davies said: "I lost to the better man on the night, I did give him my all.

"I just want to say congrats to Josh and his coach and his whole boxing team.

"In boxing you take the 'L's', losses, but I want to wish him all the best in his boxing career.

"Even though I did say a lot of stuff that was embarrassing now that I have got beat, but my personality doesn't change, I feel like boxing's about being an entertainer, if me and Josh ever fight again in the future I'd do the same thing but then after the fight we can then make up.

He added: "I've been sparing 15 rounds, I thought that he [Taylor] would get tired, but I'm still a good fighter, my credibility doesn't go down because of that loss.

"I'll take this loss like a man and I got beat by the better man on the night."

The Hackney-born fighter also followed up his statement with two tweets - vowing to come back better and stronger.

After the fight, Taylor told : "The fight I really would want next is the Ricky Burns fight.

"I think it'll be a great fight for Scotland and the Scottish fans deserve a big massive fight.

"Ricky Burns has had a great career, he did say if I get through his teammate [Davies] first then let's see how we get on so I've just blew him away so why not.

"I'm fully confident of winning that fight as well, all due respect to Ricky Burns I think he's a great guy but I'm fully confident of winning that fight as well."
