Andy Murray gets warm applause during surprise appearance in Royal Box at Wimbledon
Tennis ace was among other elite athletes being honoured at the tennis championship
ANDY Murray received warm applause when he made a surprise appearance in the Royal Box on his day off.
The ace, 30, was later seen clutching his leg during practice before tomorrow’s fourth round match against France’s Benoit Paire.
Another surprise guest in the best seats was Paralympian sprinter Libby Clegg’s guide dog Hatti. The black Labrador, who has helped Libby, 27, since 2014, was only the second mutt let into the Royal Box in Wimbledon’s history.
She sat quietly during play as Libby and fiancé Dan Powell, 26, a visually-impaired Paralympic judo player, enjoyed the tennis action.
Silver medallist Libby, forced to wear a blindfold at last year’s Rio games because she has some peripheral vision, was also joined by her guide runner Chris Clark. Other Olympic and Paralympic stars invited into the Centre Court’s top box included cycling husband and wife duo Laura Kenny, 25, and Jason, 29.
Laura showed off her growing baby bump.
Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, 22, rower Helen Glover, 31, and boxer Nicola Adams, 34, were also there.
