Alysia Montano competes in 800m race while five months pregnant… for the second time
American raced at the USA Track and Field Championships sporting growing baby bump
AMERICAN runner Alysia Montano was the talk of Thursday's USA Track and Field Championships... despite finishing 19 seconds behind the winner.
Taking part in the 800m race, Montano, 31, recorded a time of 2mins 21.4secs - in the scorching Sacramento sunshine.
However, it's not all as it seems, as Montano is FIVE months pregnant and due to give birth in November.
Keep up to date with ALL the latest sport news, gossip and rumours.
Montano looked thrilled during the competition, soaking up every second of the occasion in California.
She was snapped finishing the race at Hornet Stadium, beaming from ear to ear, while wearing a Wonder Woman top - somewhat apt, you'll agree.
After the race, Montana claimed: "Everyone is like, 'Oh, you're going to be faster than you were last time, because you're less pregnant.
"I'm like, 'I'm still pregnant.'"
After the event, Montana amazingly still had the energy to chase her two-year-old daughter around the track,
Amazingly, this is not the first time the American athlete has competed while pregnant - having done so with said daughter in 2014.
Three years ago, she ran the same race while EIGHT months pregnant, running a time just 11 seconds slower than her 2017 effort.
Despite running over two minutes in her two most famous races, Montana has in fact run a personal best time of 1min 57.34secs, back in 2010.
Yet Montana is not the first pregnant sportswoman to compete - as golfer Liz Young took to the tee last summer.
Young was taking part in the Ricoh Women’s Open at Woburn, showing off a baby bump of her own at seven months pregnant.
Tennis superstar Serena Williams was also recently seen practising while heavily pregnant.
