FORMER UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes has been taken to hospital after the truck he was in collided with a train on Friday.
The 43-year-old had to be airlifted to a medical facility after suffering from head trauma, UFC president Dana White has revealed.
Speaking to ESPN, White said: "Apparently he has head trauma.
"His family is travelling to him now."
The businessman added that he doesn't know where the accident took place, but Hughes had been helping a friend when the tragic accident took place.
Former UFC lightweight champion tweeted: "Hoping everything is OK with Matt Hughes. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family."

The UFC tweeted a message of support that read: "Our thoughts are with Matt Hughes and his family."
Hughes, a two-time welterweight champ boasts wins over legends Georges St-Pierre and BJ Penn, and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2010.
He defended his belt a then-record seven times, after first capturing the world title between 2001-2004 and then again from 2004-2006.
He retired from the sport in 2011 after finishing his career with a record of 54-9, but revealed earlier this year he was thinking of a dramatic comeback to the sport.
