Amir Khan says thugs who pounced on him in road-rage attack were lucky he didn’t use his heavy hands as weapons
Bolton star was punched by a brute as he was driving in Manchester on Friday night
AMIR KHAN says the thugs who attacked him were lucky he didn’t beat them up with his “weapons”.
The Bolton star was pounced upon by a gang while he was driving his £100,000 car in Manchester and took the wrong turn, sparking a road rage incident.
At around 9.15pm on Friday, Khan was set up by the blood-thirsty group and was punched by one of the group but suffered no serious harm.
But he says his attackers were the lucky ones as the former light-welterweight world champion reckons he would have seriously damaged them in a fist fight.
Khan said: “I was raging, I was really angry.
“I don’t want to throw punches because I can definitely hurt someone quite badly.
“My hands are weapons. They’re weapons.”
Muslim Khan is currently observing Ramadan meaning he does not eat during sunlight hours.
The fasting has interrupted his career in the past but he claims it helped keep him calm during his ugly altercation
He said: “It’s the month of Ramadan. It’s a holy month. I’m a Muslim.
“Maybe things would have been different if it wasn’t the month of Ramadan.”
Khan reunited with family for the England vs Pakistan cricket match this week after an embarrassing and very public rift.
The boxer’s wife does not get on with the his family and he axed his dad from his role managing his career – as well as a host of other previously close team members who he accused of losing him thousands of pounds.
A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: “We were called to reports of road rage incident/assault.
“It appears the person driving has made a wrong turn and this has angered the person behind them and there’s been an altercation.
“The driver of the first car was punched. There were no arrests. Anyone with information should contact us.”
