CONOR MCGREGOR will have to hone in on his boxing style after he was beaten to the punch in sparring by former welterweight champion Chris van Heerden.

The South African fighter uploaded a video on Twitter that showed him hitting the 28-year-old at will, proving he's not too quick for Floyd Mayweather to catch him.

Van Heerden, a former IBO champ, tweeted alongside the video: "People telling me Mayweather will have his hands full trying to land on McGregor - STOP IT! I respect McGregor BUT I ain't Floyd and I landed."

Despite both standing at 5ft 9in, the 29-year-old in the white vest looked to be dominant inside the ring, dictating the sparring session with his right jab, and couldn't miss connecting with the Irishman square in the face.

He boasts an impressive record in his professional career - losing just twice in 28 fights, notably being knocked out by IBF king Errol Spence back in 2015.

McGregor, who has never fought in boxing, is set to pocket a staggering £78MILLION for his contest against the 40-year-old American, who could take home a cool £230million.

The two-weight UFC champ hasn't fought since he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to claim the lightweight championship back in November, while Mayweather last boxed back in September 2015 when he outpointed Andre Berto.

A victory against his outspoken rival will see his unbeaten record stretch to the magic 50-0, but knows he will have to watch out for McGregor's famous left hand that has seen him lay Jose Aldo flat on the floor after just 13 seconds.
