Usain Bolt given emotional send off after winning his final 100m race in Jamaica

USAIN BOLT was given an emotional farewell by Jamaica after he won his final 100m race in his homeland in front of a sold-out crowd.

The eight-time Olympic gold medalist was cheered on emphatically by 30,000 fans in Kingston before he went on to win the race in 10.03 seconds.

The 30-year-old who is usually known for being as cool as ice, admitted to some nerves ahead of the the 'Salute a Legend' race.

Bolt said: "The run, it was just OK. I must say it was OK. I don't think I've ever been that nervous running a 100m."

Once he had put on a show for his adoring supporters, Bolt performed a lap of honour as fireworks lit up the night sky as fans sang, danced and waved flags.

Bolt will call time on his illustrious career after the World Championships in London in August.

The president of the International Association of Athletics Federations, Lord Seb Coe, says he is the best sprinter the world has ever seen.

Coe said: "When you're sitting in the pub and you're having the discussion: who is the greatest footballer? Nobody will agree on that.

"If you have the same discussion around golf or tennis, everybody will have different views.

"It's a slam dunk, [Bolt] is the greatest sprinter the world has ever seen.

"If you look at the records he set, if you look at the Olympic championships hes had - three in a row - I'm not sure I'm ever going to see that in my lifetime.

"So it's a massive legacy and the most important legacy is that he has connected our sport to people who weren't traditional track and field fans, that's the measure of the man."

While, Wayde van Niekerk broke the South African 200m, with a time of 19.84 seconds.
