Tiger Woods insists he will play professional golf again after successful fourth back operation

The 41-year-old still cannot name a probable date for his return but insists he is feeling fine

TIGER WOODS says he has not felt “this good in years” as he recovers from his fourth back operation.

The 14-time Major champion also declared he “unequivocally” wants to play professional golf again.

But he  still cannot name a probable date for his return — though  there is no chance of it happening before this year’s final Major, the USPGA Championship in August.

Woods said: “It’s been just over a month since I underwent fusion surgery on my back and it is hard to express how much better I feel.

“It was instant nerve relief. I haven’t felt this good in years.

“I could no longer live with the pain I had. Even lying down hurt.

I had nerve pain with anything I did and was at the end of my rope.”

The 41-year-old added: “As for returning to competitive golf, the long-term prognosis is positive. It’s just a matter of not screwing up.

“I can’t twist for another 2½ to three months. But other guys who have had fusions or disc replacements — like Davis Love III, Retief Goosen, Lee Trevino, Lanny Wadkins and Dudley Hart — have all come back and played.

“But more than anything, it made their lives better.”
