Germaine Mason remembered by fellow athletes as Louis Smith leads tributes to tragic Olympic Team GB star after he’s killed in motorbike crash
Former high jumper won silver at the 2008 Beijing Games but passed away when colliding with an oncoming vehicle
LOUIS SMITH has led the tributes to Germaine Mason after the British Olympic silver medallist tragically died in a motorbike accident this morning.
The 34-year-old high jump hero landed his prize at the 2008 Beijing Games and fellow athletes have been saying their farewells after he crashed while riding in a convoy with Usain Bolt in Jamaica.
The pair had been on a night out with sprinter Michael Frater and it’s believed Mason lost control of his bike before colliding with an oncoming vehicle.
Taking to Twitter, Smith wrote: “So sad to hear of the passing of my pal @GermaineMasonHJ…”
