LOUIS SMITH has led the tributes to Germaine Mason after the British Olympic silver medallist tragically died in a motorbike accident this morning.
The 34-year-old high jump hero landed his prize at the 2008 Beijing Games and fellow athletes have been saying their farewells after he crashed while riding in a convoy with Usain Bolt in Jamaica.
The pair had been on a night out with sprinter Michael Frater and it’s believed Mason lost control of his bike before colliding with an oncoming vehicle.
Taking to Twitter, Smith wrote: “So sad to hear of the passing of my pal @GermaineMasonHJ…”
