Andy Murray beats Gilles Muller in Monte Carlo Masters to win on his return from elbow injury which derailed Miami Open bid
British ace and world number one didn't make things easy as he rejoined ATP Tour but recovered well to progress
ANDY MURRAY sealed a 7-5, 7-5 win over Gilles Muller in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters after recovering from an elbow injury.
The world number one was forced to miss last month’s Miami Open with the problem but has now returned to winning ways on the ATP Tour.
However, Murray didn’t make things easy for himself after being broken in the first game before recovering to seal victory in just under two hours.
Murray, who was given a first-round bye, will now take on Albert Ramos-Vinolas in round three.
He told Sky Sports: “It was a tough first match. I started slow and wasn’t serving well at the start.
“I only started serving properly four, five days ago, so I knew it was going to take time but I didn’t expect to start the match serving like that.”
But fellow British ace Kyle Edmund went crashing out to Rafael Nadal, losing 6-0, 5-7, 6-3 in a tense clash.
