Reds end ten years of hurt
At the final whistle, you could see just how much it meant to the Liverpool players to secure victory at The Etihad.
While it meant taking a huge step towards their targets for this season, it also put their winless run here to bed also.
That will be important for future fixtures here, this squad now have experience of what it takes to win at The Etihad.

Despite being out of the title race and Europe, Man City will be wanting to try and get a run together in the remainder of the campaign.
The FA Cup is their sole focus for silverware this season now.
While their tough run of matches is almost at an end, Guardiola needs to get his team back to winning ways consistently in preparation for next season.
Spaniard stubborn in defeat
Speaking with Sky Sports, Man City's manager gave his opinion on the display from his team today:
We played really good. We missed being more productive. It was a really good performance. They defend so deep the transitions were difficult. It is not easy with ten players in the box. If you want to lose, you have to lose the way we did today. The club has a bright future. We have to build for the next steps. They break the lines, the runners they have in Diaz and Salah it is tough.
Pep Guardiola
Games keep coming thick and fast
While Liverpool will take a brief moment to enjoy the result today, focus turns onto their fixtures ahead.
Over the next five games, they also have a Champions League quarter-final and a Carabao Cup final to prepare for.
Confidence will be high and nobody will fancy facing Arne Slot's side at the moment.
Dutchman thriving in maiden season
Speaking with Sky Sports, Liverpool's manager was asked just how they won the game today:
By scoring a set piece. We defended really well, so many players constantly around the ball. We kept them away from big chances. We as a group of people look how to set things up and we knew that space could be there to use. They were dominating the game but we were really comfortable. Ideally, we have the ball more than the other team but City is the most difficult one to play against. There are eleven games to go and if these players continue to work so hard, we have a chance.
Arne SlotReds show they are mentality monsters
Having had some disappointing results of late, dropping points on the road against Everton and Aston Villa, this was a huge game today.
With Arsenal suffering defeat in North London against West Ham, they came into this game knowing it was a huge opportunity to put the destiny of the title in their own hands.
Arne Slot's side came to The Etihad to face a side that have dominated the Premier League for some time and never looked in danger of not taking all three points in this game.
Spaniard with huge engineering project
This may be the toughest task of Pep Guardiola's managerial career to date.
Some of their stars are ageing and it feels like the squad is in need of a major rebuild.
That is the challenge now for Man City, one of the most successful managers of all-time has some work to do to get this team back to where they were.
City feeling power shift at Etihad
Man City have had their problems this season, with some key players picking up long-term injuries.
That said, Pep Guardiola's side seem to have lost their mentality to continue dominating the Premier League.
It was a bitter pill to swallow today as the current league leaders came to town and found it all too easy to come away with all three points.

Speaking with Sky Sports after the game, Salah gave his thoughts on the victory as he picked up his man of the match award:
It’s incredible. It is very hard place to come and play. Tough team but we found a way to manage and win the game. This is special, especially when you are running into a title race. We just kept calm and continued to play our game. I wouldn’t say it is close, we needed another title and we will give it a good shot.
Mohamed Salah
Age is but a number
When you look at some of the true greats of the game, they continue producing the goods even in the latter part of their career.
Mohamed Salah is definitely in that bracket and seems to be just getting better with each year.
The Liverpool fans adore him and aside from the title, the thing they want to see more than anything is the club agreeing that new contract with the Egyptian King.

SURELY Liverpool have one hand on the Prem trophy now. A first win at the Etihad in a decade puts them 11 points clear with 11 to play.
It would take a huge collapse for them to blow it form here. First half goals from here.
Mo Salah again took centre stage as he scored the opener and created a second for Dominic Szboszlai.
City had lots of the ball but looked toothless without Erling Haaland and defeat to their old rivals here completes a miserable week after their Champions League exit.
