TAIWO AWONIYI was left with blood pouring from his face after a horror clash in Nottingham Forest's FA Cup clash.

The striker was caught in the face while challenging for the ball in the closing stages against Exeter City in the fourth-round tie.

Awoniyi, 27, appeared to be accidentally caught by the elbow of Exeter City goalkeeper Joe Whitworth.

The striker could be seen in pain on the ground with blood pouring from his nose.

An ambulance crew were seen rushing to give him aid on the pitch.

The incident delayed the match by 11 MINUTES as Awoniyi was treated.

Fans shared their concern for the injured star as they reacted on social media.

One posted: "I hope Awoniyi is okay."

A second commented: "Forest Awoniyi just took a faceful of elbow.

"Looked nasty, nothing the young Exeter keeper Whitworth could do having got to the ball first."

He was eventually carried off on a stretcher to a round of applause from the supporters in the crowd.

Nottingham Forest released a short statement after Awoniyi was subbed off.

The club posted: "Our thoughts are with you, T."

Chris Wood was sent on in his place as a concussion substitute.

ITV confirmed that Awoniyi has not been rushed to hospital and is in the dressing room.

Awoniyi had already left his mark on the game as he fired in Nottingham Forest's second of the match.

The Premier League side fell behind early on as Josh Magennis pounced on an error from Carlos Miguel.

Ramon Sosa netted the equaliser for Forest before Awoniyi's strike.
