THE extraordinary reason why Bayern Munich have been banned from wearing their famous home jerseys in the Champions League has been revealed.

Harry Kane and Co have noticeably worn their second strips in Europe's premier competition this term.

Uefa imposed a ban on the Bavarians from wearing their red kits at the Allianz Arena.

Now, BILD has explained what their reasoning was... and it's not a ban, as such.

According to the German publication, Uefa have taken umbrage to the dark numbers on the red jersey, which they claim does not offer enough contrast.

This is believed to violate the visibility regulations for back numbers.

To wear their jersey in the future, they will have to adapt it with white numbers and names.

In matches so far in the Champions League, Bayern have worn either black or a beige retro top with the old club crest.

On Wednesday, the Germans travel to Scotland where they will face off against Celtic in the Champions League playoffs.

warned Munich on Saturday: "I have no doubt at all that we can hurt Bayern. We have shown at every level that we are capable of scoring goals."

The Scottish giants are unbeaten in 16 games at home this campaign, including four in the Champions League.

And they've already seen off German opposition this term - defeating RB Leipzig 3-1 at Celtic Park.

Bayern legend Thomas Muller has already warned fans of the atmosphere that awaits them.

He said: "Anyone who underestimates the Scots has never experienced them at Celtic Park. This atmosphere is amazing; it will be a real highlight.

"And after that, either Leverkusen or Atlético Madrid would be waiting for us. So put your beer on ice, February will definitely be an exciting football month."
