But fans who spotted the legendary ex-Manchester United boss were surprised to see the famous face alongside him.

Fergie saw Bobby De Cordova-Reid bundle Leicester in front.

And as the Red Devils dozed on the pitch, the 83-year-old appeared to come close to doing the same in the stands.

He let out an enormous yawn  - with his mouth almost as wide as the gap between the United of his day and Ruben Amorim's current performers.

But the Red Devils roused in the second period, helped by subs Joshua Zirkzee and especially Alejandro Garnacho.

Zirkzee pounced to level, then Harry Maguire nodded the winner in the final minute of stoppage time - despite looking well offside.

And at the end Fergie shared a smile with the ex-manager next to him - Sam Allardyce.

The former England, West Ham and Newcastle chief, 70, was at the fourth-round tie even though he has no direct past connections with United or the Foxes.

And his last job in management, with Leeds, ended in June 2023.

However, Big Sam might not remember that too fondly.

He remained in charge for just 30 days - the shortest reign ever for a Prem boss.

Meanwhile, supporters blamed Fergie's mid-match misery on United's tactics.

One posted: "Ruben Amorim ball made him yawn."

Another wrote: "He’s yawning, might be really boring what United are playing out there."

Similar comments included: "He does NOT enjoy this" and "Looks like hes absolutely enthralled there".

One even suggested: "He can't wait to get home."

But if Fergie had the first yawn, he might also have had the last laugh - if he reads such verdicts after United's fightback.
