Williams, 49, was at an indoor golf facility when one of his sons was teeing it up in the bay.

The Welshman has three boys - Connor, Kian and Joel - wife with Joanne.

But he joked he won't be giving out any more tips after his unfortunate mishap.

In the 21-second video, Williams can be seen instructing his lad to adjust his shoulder position before taking a shot against the screen.

He then lays his own club down next to Williams Jr and steps back to watch the shot.

But he could not have prepared for what happened next.

His son's shot flew out of the camera's view as it hurtled past and into the screen.

However, nanoseconds later it reappeared, soaring straight back past the golfer and striking Williams flush in the face.

Williams immediately clutched his face, bent over double and staggered backwards to safety.

His pal - who had flinched out of the way as the ball rebounded - immediately went to check on the snooker star.

But his son did not seem too concerned as he barely acknowledged his old man's pain.

Williams posted the video taken of the CCTV - during which someone can be heard saying "man down" - on Thursday evening.

He captioned the post: "This is what happens when you try and give your boy some tips at golf, ffs, my jaw is killing."

That was then followed by three laughing emojis.

Despite his son's lack of response, the Welsh Potting Machine did receive plenty of sympathy online.

One replied: "That looked painful."

Another said: "If only You've Been Framed was still a thing you could cash in."

'NICE LUMP'

A third joked: "Foul, Mark Williams jaw."

Snooker star Reanne Evans quipped: "What a shot."

And a final user added: "Oof. That looks nasty."

Williams - who needed oxygen at a January exhibition - then followed up with: "Lucky it wasn't my eye. Nice lump but fine."

And the latest blow does not come at a welcome time as he struggles to find his form at the table.

The 2000, 2003 and 2018 Crucible king has lost his last four matches - dating back to before Christmas - since beating Judd Trump in the Riyadh Snooker Championship.

That included falling at the first hurdle in the World Open qualifiers, the Masters and the German Masters.

But Williams will be desperate to return to form on home soil at the Welsh Open as he put aside thoughts of skipping the event and faces Florian Nussle in his first match on Monday.
