Then in 1999, the stunning media centre opened between the Compton and Edrich Stands in time for the World Cup.

In a feat of revolutionary architectural design, the building cost £5million and has space for 118 journalists plus commentary boxes, TV studios and hospitality suites at either end.

And it has even won a staggering eight architectural awards - including the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects Stirling Prize in 1999.

Previously sponsored by NatWest, Investec and J. P. Morgan, the media centre now has a new name.

As of 2025, it is called the Barclays Media Centre.

Barclays already have partnerships in both football and tennis - as the title sponsor of the Women's Super League and banking partner of Wimbledon.

And now the British bank have moved into cricket with the deal with Marylebone Cricket Club, whose home is based at Lord's.

Rob Lynch, Interim Chief Executive & Secretary of MCC, said: "This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for MCC, Lord’s and cricket as a whole."
