And Unai Emery is already scouring the market for a replacement.

Chelsea’s Joao Felix is thought to be of interest.

But claims Villa have now joined the heated race to sign Bayern Munich forward Tel.

Despite still being 19 years old, he’s still scored 16 times in 83 games for the Germans.

And Tel is now seeking a permanent move away from the Allianz Arena in search of first-team football.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are all thought to be monitoring the situation.

But Villa could jump to the head of the queue by launching a £50m bid for Tel before the weekend.

Emery is keen to add more firepower after losing Duran to Al-Nassr.

He still runs the risk of seeing star man Ollie Watkins go to Arsenal, who have already had a £60m rejected.

News of the Gunners’ bid filtered through just hours before Watkins started in Villa’s 4-2 Champions League win over Celtic.

The striker’s mind may have been elsewhere as he slipped over and missed a penalty in the second half.

But with Duran heading to Saudi Arabia, Villa are determined to keep hold of Watkins if Arsenal return with a second bid.

The Midlands have already signed Levante right-back Andres Garcia and Borussia Dortmund winger Donyell Malen this month.

Villa remain hopeful of completing a loan deal for Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi before deadline day.

While they have recently waved goodbye to Jaden Philogene, Diego Carlos and Emi Buendia.
