The side are top of the Premier League, with a game in hand, and also finished top of the Champions League group stage.

Plymouth are enduring the opposite season to The Reds, currently bottom of the Championship, and battling to avoid relegation from the division.

Having sacked Wayne Rooney heading into the new year, Plymouth have won just once since the turn of the year, away at Brentford in the FA Cup third round.

Liverpool themselves will be prepared to deal with any potential slip up, as they eased past Accrington Stanley 4-0 at Anfield in the third round.
