PATRICK DORGU could be the answer to Ruben Amorim's Manchester United conundrum.
Amorim was determined to implement his favoured 3-4-3 formation when he arrived at Old Trafford back in November.
However, it has failed to be as effective as he probably would have anticipated.
Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot were initially Amorim's preferred wing-backs at the start of his tenure at the club.
But with Amad now used in a more attacking position and Dalot struggling to adapt to his new role, the head coach has been forced to look elsewhere for options.
Amorim set his sights on Lecce left-back Dorgu earlier this month and now looks primed to seal a deal for him.

United have reportedly reached a £29million agreement with his Serie A side.
It includes a further £4m in add-ons relating to Champions League qualification and a set number of Premier League appearances.
Should he join United, Dorgu could jump straight into Amorim's starting line-up.
Compared to Man Utd stars Amad, Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui, the 20-year-old has won more duels and more possession this season and has made more tackles, crosses and interceptions.

He also has four goals and assists - a huge improvement on Dalot and Mazraoui's zero.
And the left-back has attempted 36 shots in total - more than ANY of his potential future team-mates.
Dorgu's all-round game appears to be slightly more balanced than that of United's current defensive players.
He is effective both going forward and tracking back - which is exactly what Amorim has been looking for in recent months.
In another huge boost, he also boasts an impressive fitness record.
Nordsjælland technical director Alexander Riget, who watched the youngster grow up at the club, recently told : "He’s never injured – never.
"He played for Nordsjælland for six or seven years and I can’t remember him having one day where he was injured, which is very abnormal when you are growing. That is also a very good thing."
It will come as music to Amorim's ears given the recurring injury issues that have plagued Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw in recent years.
Dorgu's goalscoring prowess was also evident on his senior international debut for Denmark in September.
He broke the deadlock against Switzerland with his first touch just 42 minutes after coming off the bench.
