He made history in his debut against Manchester City in October 1956 by becoming the club's youngest-ever player.

Gaskell was 16 years and 19 days old when he played in the 1956 FA Charity Shield, which United won 1-0.

His displays in the Manchester derby saw Sir Matt Busby hand him an immediate promotion to the first team.

He'd spend 11 seasons with United before moving to Wigan Athletic.

Gaskwell would then enjoy spells with Wrexham and Arcadia Shepherds - who proved to be his last club - following a single season stay with The Latics.
