MotoGP Argentina 2017: Maverick Vinales wins ahead of Valentino Rossi and Cal Crutchlow after Marc Marquez crash
Marquez was leading but crashed on the third lap as Vinales extends lead
MAVERICK VINALES won the second MotoGP of the season after Marc Marquez crashed early in Argentina.
The Yamaha driver is top of the standings after two races having won in Qatar two weeks ago.
Vinales took the chequered flag after leader Marquez - who had taken pole - fell on the third lap.
The 22-year-old Vinales finished on the podium ahead of Valentino Rossi and Brit Cal Crutchlow.
Italian legend Rossi was riding in the 350th race of his storied career.
Vinales said: "Marquez started very strong and when he fell I said to myself that I needed to get as many points as possible. I am happy."
With a perfect 50 points from two races, the youngster has a 14-point lead over Rossi.
Reigning champion Marquez said: "I felt strong and in amazing form but I don't know what happened. I just made a mistake."
