Masters snooker 2025 LIVE RESULTS: Shaun Murphy BEATS Kyren Wilson in dramatic final to land huge £350k payday – updates

SHAUN MURPHY took home the biggest prize of his career to win the Masters on Sunday night at Ally Pally.

Murphy overcame world champ Kyren Wilson to become Masters champion for the second time in his career.

The Magician raced into a 6-2 lead in the afternoon session, but The Warrior fought back in the evening to make the showpiece match 8-7 after 15 frames.

But Murphy held firm despite Wilson’s heart to secure a 10-7 win and the biggest payday of his illustrious career (£350,000).

Earlier in the tournament, The Magician hit a stunning 147 during his semi-final triumph over Mark Allen.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-4 Shaun Murphy (0-14)

What a shot from the Magician, who's virtually bullying his opponent on the table at the moment. He's opened up all the balls with a fantastic long plant and put himself in the driving seat for this sixth frame.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-4 Shaun Murphy

What can Kyren do to claw back some ground then? Well, win the next three frames obviously. But given the way things are unfolding, you would think he'd bite your hand off to be trailing 5-3 at the end of the session.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-4 Shaun Murphy

Wilson's attempted long pot doesn't trouble the pocket too much and Shaun Murphy says 'thank you very much' before doing enough to take the fifth frame of the afternoon.

This is a very healthy advantage indeed for Murphy with three frames left to play. He could potentially head into tonight's final session with a 7-1 advantage…

Murphy is now guaranteed to be level whatever happens in the remainder of this afternoon session.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-3 Shaun Murphy (21-40)

Shaun Murphy, with his 92% pot success, has returned from the interval and picked up from where he left off.

He quickly eclipses Wilson's 21-point advantage and takes a lead before a missed red to the middle pocket halts his break of 40.

"I don't think I've seen Shaun Murphy look as focused as he has this week," says Stephen Hendry.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-3 Shaun Murphy (21-21)

Nightmare for Kyren Wilson, and pretty much encapsulates his afternoon. He looks to be heading into an unassailable lead but misses a cut-back on the red and allows Shaun Murphy another look.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-3 Shaun Murphy

Great long pot to get things started for Kyren Wilson, and a magnificent three-ball plant will only enhance his chances of reducing the deficit. The black is out of commission but the reds have fallen nicely and this is a real chance.

Real look of determination from the Warrior.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-3 Shaun Murphy

Right then, another four frames left to play in this first session. Kyren Wilson will be hoping his work on the practice table during the interval will pay dividends. Shaun Murphy has a two-frame cushion.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-3 Shaun Murphy

"It's frames like that that can really be the difference towards the end of the match. That's a massive frame to steal," said 1997 world champion Ken Doherty.

"Kyren was in making a lovely break and all of a sudden he's missed a red from nowhere. Shaun had to do a lot of work there, it wasn't straightforward.

    "A brilliant clearance."

Kyren Wilson went straight to the practice tables after that short session.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-3 Shaun Murphy

    That's a proper dagger.

As I mentioned, Kyren was two pots away from making this all-square but now heads to the mid-session interval 3-1 down. Excellent play from Shaun Murphy, who nudged out two reds from the cushion in successive shots before cleaning up in style.

"He'd done all. The hard work, all the donkey work and then he throws in a red like that," says Ken Doherty.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-2 Shaun Murphy (61-34)

Oh Kyren… The Warrior raced into a 61-1 advantage and looked for all the world like levelling this 2025 Masters final heading to the mid-session interval.

But… he misses a simple red and that brings Shaun Murphy back to the table - 60 points behind with 75 remaining. Stealing this would really hurt the world champion.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-2 Shaun Murphy (37-1)

Shaun Murphy misses a cut-back black immediately after a cracking long red, which gifts Kyren Wilson a frame-winning opportunity.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-2 Shaun Murphy (0-0)

Touch off good fortune for Kyren Wilson, who attempts a difficult long pot to the bottom left corner. He misses but luckily for him, he gets a nice double kiss from the red that sends the cueball back up the table to safety.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-2 Shaun Murphy (0-0)

Ok, this is the last frame before the interval and it's clearly a biggie. 2-2 looks a lot better than 3-1, especially given Kyren Wilson hasn't been near his best to this point.

  • Kyren Wilson 1-2 Shaun Murphy

Panic over. Shaun Murphy misses a difficult pink up the table and Kyren Wilson returns to add the finishing touches to get this one over the line. He reduces the deficit to 2-1.

That was really impressive stuff from Kyren Wilson. Ok, a few positional shots went awry - perhaps nerves or lack of table time - but he pulled it back several times.

  • Kyren Wilson 0-2 Shaun Murphy (69-0)

Now then… Kyren Wilson looks to have the frame at his mercy after several impressive shots but he's missed the red to the middle pocket and allowed Shaun Murphy back to the table.

Murphy requires a snooker but it's not beyond the realms. This would be devastating for Wilson.

  • Kyren Wilson 0-2 Shaun Murphy (12-0)

Could that be the shot that gets Kyren Wilson up and running?

He plays a speculative double and he's played it to perfection. He takes a modest early lead but it looks pretty tough to keep this break going with the balls tightly bunched.

  • Kyren Wilson 0-2 Shaun Murphy

Shaun Murphy gets this one over the line to take the second frame of the 2025 Masters final. Kyren Wilson has not settled at all and Murphy will want to put as much daylight between himself and Wilson before the evening session.

Remember, we're playing eight frames in this afternoon session.

  • Kyren Wilson 0-1 Shaun Murphy (4-45)

Not much, as it happens. He came a cropper using the extension, which Steve Davis says is a "completely different shot". The black is glued to the cushion, so Shaun Murphy will need to make the most of the blue as he searches for a second-consecutive frame.

  • Kyren Wilson 0-1 Shaun Murphy (0-31)

Shaun Murphy misses the green to the middle pocket just as he was beginning to motor and that allows Kyren Wilson back to the table. What can the world champion do with this?

  • Kyren Wilson 0-1 Shaun Murphy (0-17)

Shaun Murphy pounces on the first mistake with a high-tariff red, but it pays off for him when following with another risky yellow to the middle pocket to take the early advantage.

The play of a man with confidence.

There's still a good amount to do with the black up around the blue spot and the pink out of commission.

  • Kyren Wilson 0-1 Shaun Murphy (0-0)

A little safety exchange to start the second frame with nothing really available for either of the players. Who will blink first?

  • Shaun Murphy 1-0 Kyren Wilson (0-0)

"Already Shaun is striking the cue ball beautifully. It's like a golfer with a perfect swing - you wonder how they ever miss a fairway, and you wonder how Shaun ever misses a shot with that cue action," said seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry

  • Shaun Murphy 1-0 Kyren Wilson

It is indeed first blood to Shaun Murphy, who looks supremely confident. More heavy scoring, great cueball control and some lovely potting to bag the opening frame in this 2025 Masters with a break of 94.

  • Shaun Murphy 0-0 Kyren Wilson (0-53)

Right then, how's your luck? It's good! He played it to perfection and Shaun Murphy should wrap a one-visit win here to lay down a marker and take first blood in this battle for the hearts and minds of Northamptonshire.

  • Shaun Murphy 0-0 Kyren Wilson (0-8)

Not the most auspicious start to proceedings with a fairly poor break off from Shaun Murphy, perhaps nerves but more likely the wasp - always blame the wasp.

Anyway, Kyren Wilson can't capitalise and allows his opponent back to the table to sink a wonderful long pot. It's not a bad set-up for Murphy but he still needs to go into the pack obviously.
