Teen sensation was asked how he will spend his £500,000 winnings

"I think I lost 20 per cent of my battery by the time the notification cames through. I replied to so many people.

"Then it was a case of going to asleep and getting prepared for today.”

Littler - an avid Manchester United fan - beamed as he opened up on receiving a text from football hero David Beckham.

He said: “Obviously, David Beckham messaged. He said: ‘Great, well done.’”

Littler added: “Yeah, it’s been crazy. I only had four hours sleep."

United royalty were actually in the house at Ally Pally as Wayne Rooney, his wife Coleen and their sons cheered on.

Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire were also quick to congratulate the United supporter on social media.

Littler's career earnings have now soured past £1MILLION since turning professional only 12 months ago.

But he admitted to having "no idea" how he would spend the £500,000 prize he won after defeating Van Gerwen 7-3.

Littler is eyeing the World No1 spot and hopes to one day surpass the great Phil Taylor.

He said: “I want to become one of the best of all time.

"It will take however many times. Phil Taylor won many. I know Michael has won 100-plus titles.

"But for myself, I want to win as much as I can.”
