‘One of greatest darts games ever’ – Dave Chisnall CRASHES OUT after brilliant win by ‘weird Kettering lad’ Ricky Evans
Evans gave brilliant speech to fans afterwards
DAVE CHISNALL crashed out of the World Darts Championship in an epic clash against Ricky Evans.
The world No6, who was a runner-up at Ally Pally in 2010, was expected to cruise past his opponent at the darts on Monday night.
But Chisnall missed a crucial match dart before Evans, ranked No45 in the world, triumphed in a thrilling sudden death leg.
With the scores tied at 2-2, both men pulled out some amazing throws to leave the crowd on the edge of their seats.
The pressure saw Chisnall – who becmae the 13th seed to crash out – miscount his finish to leave Evans clinging on.
And ‘Rapid’ made sure to punish the mistake by sealing the final leg 6-5.
Speaking after, Evans revealed his shock and delight at winning the battle while setting up a clash against Welshman Robert Owen.
Referring to himself as a “weird lad from Kettering”, he beamed: “I played a world class player, I actually played well for once – normally it’s poo, normally it’s boring.
“Look at this, I’m a weird Kettering lad, I don’t understand it, why are they cheering me on?
“I wished I’d have beat Chizzy 3-0 because my ticker would have been a bit better.

“What am I doing the other 11 months of the year?
“I don’t get this treatment in my household, I don’t understand it!
“They kept getting louder and louder, what are they cheering me for?
“Thank you for that everyone, you’ve made a fat lad very happy.”
He then added to his adoring fans: “Merry Christmas you weirdos!”
