Confiidence is flowing back into him after winning that last leg.
He hits the double to move within one leg of victory.
Mickey Mansell 2-1 Tomoya Goto* (LEGS: 1-1)
Goto is making the mistake in these legs of trying to utilise bull as a finish in these matches, he is nowhere near.
He allows Mansell to get back into the leg and hits double 12 and celebrates more passionately than we have seen him all evening.
It is almost like he realises what a struggle he is finding this last set to seal his route to the next round.
Mickey Mansell* 2-1 Tomoya Goto (LEGS: 0-1)
Mansell should be very concerned right now, he is throwing darts that would get him beaten in most pubs up and down the country.
Goto is on a double while the Englishman is still in the 200s.
As a result, he can afford to miss his first two attempts but then seals the double to take the first leg of the fourth set against the throw.
Mickey Mansell 2-1 Tomoya Goto* (LEGS: 2-3)
Just as it seems Goto has thrown away his chance to get back into this game, he dominates the leg.
Mansell is struggle to put any scores together while Goto is hitting minimum two trebles a visit.
The Japanese star hits double top to take the set and send a message to Mansell that he's going nowhere.
Mickey Mansell* 2-0 Tomoya Goto (LEGS: 2-2)
Neither player seems to have that killer instinct in the leg.
They both miss chances to win the leg, in particular, Goto narrowly misses the bullseye to take the set.
Finally Mansell lands his double and we are all square in the set.
Mickey Mansell 2-0 Tomoya Goto* (LEGS: 1-2)
Another scratchy leg for Mansell but he manages to stop the rot.

Mickey Mansell* 1-0 Tomoya Goto (LEGS: 3-1)
Mannsell gets himself into a position in this one where Goto is on a big outshot while he focusses on the double.
It all goes Pete Tong as he misses his chance.
Fortunately Goto cannot take advantage and Mansell takes the leg and the first set.
Mickey Mansell 0-0 Tomoya Goto* (LEGS: 2-1)
It is a poor leg of darts from the Japanese player.
He is not scoring highly enough to have any hope of defending his throw.
Mansell accepts the gift, hits his double and puts himself in control of this set.
Mickey Mansell* 0-0 Tomoya Goto (LEGS: 1-1)
Mansell fires his way back into this game.
Bit of a different leg as he outscores his oppoent and gives himself a lot of breathing space on the finish.
Not that he needs it, hitting double top with his first attempt.
Mickey Mansell 0-0 Tomoya Goto* (LEGS: 0-1)
Both players are pretty much matching each others' scores in the first leg of the match.
Mansell has the chance to set himself up on a finish first but gets it all wrong.
Goto has three darts to defend his leg and he hits double top with his last dart.
Mickey Mansell v Tomoya Goto
This will be an interesting match-up.
Mansell had some good form lately as he got to the semi-finals of the Grand Slam event.
His Japanese opponent cannot be under-estimated however.
MVG fading away from limelight
Coming into these World Championships, Michael van Gerwen is probably in the worst form of his career.
Everyone expects him to snap out of it and get back to being the 'Green Machine' everyone in the sport wants to see.
What is more of a worry now is if that's it for him, his era is over.
Focus back on the Ally Pally oche
We are back for the evening session and hope for some more entertaining darts.
There are some interesting match-ups with fan-favourite Michael van Gerwen in action as well.
First up, we have Mickey Mansell v Tomoya Goto.
Bunting on Ed Sheeran
Stephen Bunting has gushed about having pop superstar watch on from the Ally Pally crowd during his 3-1 win over Kai Goddhardt this afternoon.
He said: “It’s amazing, I’m a massive fan of his as well even though he supports Ipswich Town. I’m surprised he’s not come in to disrupt the interview to be honest.
“It would have been really nice to meet him. I’m a massive fan of his music on my Spotify and playlist. I’ve got some of his songs flying through my head.
“I think my lad (Toby) had a few moments with him, he’ll tell me on the way home. We need high profile people coming to watch our sport. It really does spur us on, especially when you’re on stage and you know.
“My manager even alluded to it earlier. He told me that Ed was here and I was so shellshocked. But it must be something about gingers.
“Prince Harry has been here before and now Ed Sheeran as well.”45 minute warning
We're just 45 minutes away from the evening session commencing at Alexandre Palace.
The first match is set to get underway at 7:10pm.
It's Michael Mansell taking on Tomoya Goto to wet the appetite tonight.
Before another three clashes into the evening.

The 'Shape of You' singer - sat alongside former Capital DJ and now BBC One Show host Roman Kemp - was seen downing pints and engaging in some friendly banter with an especially raucous Ally Pally crowd.
Bunting backs himself
Stephen Bunting has backed himself to go all the way after his 3-1 win over Kai Gotthardt.
