White on Littler
After shocking Ritchie Edhouse, Ian White is ready for Luke Littler.
He said: "He's Runcorn's number 2! I'm from Runcorn and I'm number 1!
"You want to cause an upset. I'm all for it. Luke Littler has done everything for this sport at the moment.
"Look at this crowd, the way they are singing. Everyone wants to come to the darts. That's where you need to be at Christmas."
This afternoon's results
Cullen reaction
Joe Cullen was furious with the disrespect he's received from the media - walking out of his press conference.
"I don't know Wessel personally but I think the surrounding of the media led to his demise a little bit," Cullen said.
"I've struggled this year on the oche and off the oche so to find a performance like that, to be honest I've got you guys to thank because I don't think I would have played like that if I had read some of the nonsense that I read beforehand."
He added: "The media attention that Wessel has got - again, this is not a reflection on him - he seems like a fantastic kid.
"The way I've been treated with the media and things like that. I know you guys have no control of the bookies, but I've been shown no respect so I won't share any respect to any of you guys tonight. I'm gonna go home."
Match stats
It wasn't the highest quality match, but White won't mind that.
WHITE BEATS EDHOUSE 3-1!
A shock as the reigning European champion crashes out at Ally Pally.
Edhouse averages just 84 as he drops three straight sets.
All credit to White, who started slowly but took advantage when it was clear his opponent was nowhere near his best.
Ritchie Edhouse 1-2 Ian White
It's advantage Ian White.
Edhouse is all over the place and his spot in the World Championships hangs by a thread.
Ritchie Edhouse 1-1 Ian White
The winner of this one plays Luke Littler in the next round.
And whoever makes it will have to seriously up their game.
Another scrappy set, with both players averaging in the low 80s.
White needed a response and finds one, taking the set 3-1. It's game on.
Ritchie Edhouse 1-0 Ian White
Ian White just can't get any sort of rhythm, it's a tough watch so far.
Both players are way off their best here, but Edhouse has just been not quite as bad as White.
He takes the opening set, finding double 12 and puffing out his cheeks. Room to improve.
Ritchie Edhouse vs Ian White
Following Cullen's relentless finishing against Nijman, this match feels a bit jarring.
Both players struggling on the doubles, with just 3 hit from 17 attempts so far.
Edhouse has just made it 2-1 in the opening set, which remains on throw.
Next up - Ritchie Edhouse vs Ian White
One more match to come in this packed afternoon schedule.
Here's how the session has gone so far:
- Ryan Searle 3-0 Matt Campbell
- Dirk van Duijvenbode 1-3 Madars Razma
- Joe Cullen 3-0 Wessel Nijman
CULLEN BEATS NIJMAN 3-0!
What a fantastic performance from The Rockstar.
He's endured a dismal 2024, but has silenced the critics with a wonderful demolition job on the Dutchman.
The Yorkshireman roars at the Ally Pally crowd and will now face Gerwyn Price in Round 3.
Joe Cullen 2-0 Wessel Nijman
Nijman holds his nerve to level up the set at 2-2.
It forces a huge decider in the context of the match - and it's a magic leg of darts.
Three maximums in it as the players grapple for what could be a pivotal set.
It eventually goes to Cullen, who splits the double 13 in half. Whisper it, but he looks back to his best.
Joe Cullen 1-0 Wessel Nijman
Underdog? Hmm, looks like Joe Cullen is out to prove a point.
He dominates the opening set, racing to a 2-0 lead after an early break.
Despite Nijman holding throw to half the deficit, Cullen sees it out. Strong start from the Yorkshireman.
Latest score - Joe Cullen vs Wessel Nijman
A big singalong as Cullen walks to the stage to Don't Look Back in Anger.
The Rockstar is the underdog today and looks relaxed on his way to the Oche.
Nijman playing great darts, this one should be close.
Up next - Joe Cullen vs Wessel Nijman
The Ally Pally crowd are getting their money's worth this afternoon.
This next match could be another cracker, as Joe 'The Rockstar' Cullen faces off with Wessel Nijman.
RAZMA BEATS VAN DUIJVENBODE 3-1!
This was a belting game of darts.
A set dart missed from Van Duijvenbode lets Razma in at 1-2, levelling things up to take it to a set decider.
The Latvian keeps his nerve to seal a fantastic comeback.
He's through to the last-32.
Van Duijvenbode 1-2 Razma
This is some turnaround from Razmatazz.
He looked outclassed and frankly out of ideas for 5 legs of this match.
Fast forward around 20 minutes and he's got it by the scruff of the neck.
The Latvian storms to a 3-0 win in this third set and is just one away from the next round.
Van Duijvenbode 1-1 Razma
A brilliant response from Razma as he battles back from 0-2 down in this set to force a decider.
He lines up a 170, but is mock booed by the crowd as the second T20 just misses.
No worries though - he returns next visit and stuns the Dutchman by removing 65. Game on.
Van Duijvenbode 1-0 Razma
Why is everyone in such a hurry today?
The Dutchman dominates from the off, carving up the Latvian with a 113-set average.
He seals it with a three-figure checkout and strides off stage. What a start.
Van Duijvenbode vs Razma
Living on a Prayer blasts out at the Palace, prompting a mass singalong.
Joy in the aisles and it's only 1.30pm. What a sport.
Razmatazz has the darts in this one, he'll throw first. Game on.
Next up - Dirk van Duijvenbode vs Madars Razma
An electric start to the afternoon session.
Yesterday we saw all four daytime matches finish in a whitewash. Surely not again?
Let's hope for more competitive games going forward - first up, Dirk 'The Titan' van Duijvenbode faces Madars 'Razmatazz' Razma.
SEARLE BEATS CAMPBELL 3-0!
Just sublime from Ryan Searle, who looks one to watch in this tournament.
It's taken him just over 15 minutes of playing time to dispatch a helpless Matt Campbell.
Heavy Metal can now go and enjoy his Christmas. It's job done and he'll be back for the third round.
Latest score - Searle 2-0 Campbell
Relentless darts from Heavy Metal, who is living up to his name today.
Searle is just one set away from the third round and looking in cruise control.
He currently has a 102 average and has removed 6/10 on the doubles. Not much you can do about that.
Searle 3-0 Campbell (2-0 in sets)
Pure magic from Ryan Searle.
He is in the groove today and hits a brilliant 164 checkout to take full control of this set.
T19, T19, BULL. A huge roar from the Ally Pally crowd.
Moments later, he's sealed it with another checkout of 96.
