Golf betting tips and predictions for the DP World Tour Championship and the Bermuda Championship
Watch out Rory - Thriston Lawrence is coming to get you!
That is not a warning that would normally cause Rory McIlroy to lose much sleep. But with a sixth European money list triumph all but in the bag, it is one he should take note of.
Lawrence is the only man who can prevent Rory winning the season-long Race to Dubai title. But to do that, the South African star needs to win this week’s DP World Tour Championship, with McIlroy finishing outside the top ten.
Unlikely. But not impossible.
Lawrence kept the race alive by finishing in a share of sixth in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, one shot behind McIlroy, who was in a three-way tie for third.
But there is enough evidence to suggest Lawrence could turn the tables this week. And at 25-1 he looks far better value than his money race rival, who is a measly 4-1, or lower.

Golf tips
McIlroy has won the DP World Tour’s closing event twice and has rattled off seven other top six finishes. That is why another money list title is his for the taking.
But he has not won here since 2015, and his 2023 performance - a share of 22nd - was his worst effort in 13 attempts. So while the 2024 crown looks safe, it is not a stone cold certainty.
Lawrence has only played in the DP World Championship twice. His second effort 12 months ago was a huge improvement on his debut - he climbed from 41st into a tie for fifth.
He shot 64 on Friday last year and closed with a 66. He will probably need to fire four rounds in the sixties this time, but he has all the motivation in the DP World, and he looks a terrific each way bet.
Tyrrell Hatton is second favourite to McIlroy at around 6-1, just as he was in Abu Dhabi last week, when he almost did us a favour - only for Paul Waring to have the week of his life, to push Hothead Hatton into second.
Hatton has also finished runner-up twice in this event, and it would be no surprise to see the in-form Englishman go one better.
And how about a coincidence bet? Nicolai Hojgaard was an impressive winner here a year ago but is struggling at the moment - unlike twin brother Rasmus, who looks attractively priced to follow in Nicolai’s footsteps at 22-1.
Waring’s stunning victory showed the top names do not always clean up in the big events, and there are a few attractive each way options.
Romain Langasque, a 90-1 shot, is one of those to catch the eye. He has played well here on his last two visits, and would not have to improve much on his share of 11th last year to reward each way support.
Matteo Manassero could make a mockery of his 70-1 quote if he can recapture his early season form. He is very comfortable in Dubai, having used the local MENA Tour to relaunch his career.

The final event of the PGA Tour season, the Bermuda Championship has failed to attract any of the top Americans - a similar story to last week’s World Wide Technology events.
It is not a tournament to bet on with much confidence. But 25-1 shot Justin Lower and 33-1 chance Nico Echavarria - who looked like making it back-to-back Tour wins as the 54 hole leader in Mexico last week - should give us a run for our money.
Garrick Higgo showed signs of a return to form with a tie for sixth last week. He also looks interesting at 80-1.
