And we're out

Thank you to everyone who tuned in to The Sun Online's coverage of UFC 309.

The UFC Heavyweight champ Jon Jones is feeling on top of the world right now after that brutal spinning kick which put former division kingpin Stipe Miocic into retirement.

The UFC legend couldn’t wait to pose with the belt once again.

Fight fans, we'll see you soon.

Looks as if everybody is taking pictures with the belt.

Even the President elect of the United States, Donald Trump!

Chandler confident despite defeat

Speaking with Joe Rogan after the fight, Michael Chandler still has the fire inside of a winner.

He calls out Conor McGregor saying “If you ever get your house in order, we’ve been keeping this octagon warm, get back in here and see if you can fight me!”

What a fight that one would be but it seems a big ask to see McGregor back in the UFC right now.

Retirement U-Turn

Jones revealed before his triump against Miocic during the UFC 309 media day that he’s willing to postpone retirement if they offer him a blockbuster showdown with fan favourite Alex Pereira.

He told SunSport at the UFC 309 media day: “The main goal is to get past Stipe.

“And if I can do it in a really dominant, devastating fashion, then the desire in my heart would be like, ‘Okay, now it’s Alex Pereira.

“If the UFC doesn’t want that to happen, ultimately it’s the boss’s decision, then it won’t happen.

“And then I’ll just move on with my life.

“One of the ways I look at it, would you guys rather lose me or get one more super-fight.

“And the only super-fight that makes sense to me, not to everyone else, to me and my team is Alex Pereira.”

Presidential welcome

Donald Trump was greeted by a deafening chorus of cheers from fight fans as he made a sensational arrival at UFC 309.

The 45th and soon-to-be 47th President of the United States attended three of the MMA leader’s pay-per-view events last year.

Each event saw the 78-year-old receive an incredible reaction from fans.

But the response he got in his first major public outing since defeating Kamala Harris in the elections earlier this month was out of the world.

The electric Madison Square Garden crowd erupted as the business mogul came up on the big screen during the intermission between the prelims and the main card.

The knockout blow

This image of Jon Jones’ incredible spinning back kick to the midriff of Stipe Miocic just highlights how crippling the strike was.

No wonder Miocic couldn’t get back up to his feet.

Jones celebrates win with president

After getting his TKO in the main event this evening, Jon Jones celebrated with those at ringside, iincluding Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

He didn’t stop there as he also spent a little time with Kid Rock.

It was a big display by Jon Jones and for UFC fans it was even bigger news to hear the retirement is off and we are going to see more from him.

Jones open to Aspinall bout

Jon Jones has said he would consider stepping in the Octagon with Brit Tom Aspinall if the money was right.

UFC president Dana White says he hopes to make that fight and assured the champ Jones that he would be "well compensated".

"It would be the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history, by a long shot," White said.

"I've got Tom waiting for me outside right now and Jon will be Jon.

"He will disappear, not only will you not hear what he's doing, neither will I.

"But then he will resurface, he will call, and we will get it done."

Stipe's different firefight

Few people are aware that Miocic is also a FULL-TIME firefighter when he's not in the Octagon.

When asked how he’s managed the juggling act, Miocic told  last year: "My mom raised me right.

"I think just hard work pays off and nothing's ever given until it's earned."

Miocic, however, has had to take time off his day job for fight week itself - just as he did last year.

He said: "I have days off, vacation days, and stuff."

Miocic bows out

Stipe Miocic has called time on his career following his defeat to Jon 'Bones' Jones.

The 42-year-old is a former two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion but didn't have what it took to dethrone arguably the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.

Enjoy your retirement, champ!

Tom Aspinall is in the crowd for this one tonight, he would love nothing more than the chance to fight Jon Jones.

Kyler Murray from the Arizona Cardinals is also enjoying the action.

Meanwhile President Donald Trump seems to have some important calls to make from ringside.

Maybe he was putting a late bet on Viviane Araujo to win the last bout.
