Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson round-by-round
MIKE TYSON's long-awaited return to the ring didn't have the fairytale ending fight fans dreamed of.
SunSport's boxing expert Wally Downes Jr recaps one of the drabbest and most forgettable nights in boxing history.
And he didn't hold back, issuing a scathing assessment of social media sensation Jake Paul.
Round One
Paul says "I love you, Mike" just before the opening bell sounds. He quickly runs away and holds the boxing legend.
Tyson draws a big reaction from the crowd as he lands a jab and a good right hand.
Verdict: 10-9 Tyson
Round Two
Paul ran away in the opener and held - just like we thought he would.
Tommy Fury had it first and now Mike Tyson. It's clever because Tyson will tire. Paul tags Tyson's body with a straight right.
Tyson looks spent now. 180 seconds in and the fight looks over.
Verdict: 10-9 Tyson
Round Three
The legend cannot even keep his gumshield in. As expected it's a waste of time. Paul has run away until the 58-year-old has tired.
Shooting ducks in a barrel now. Tyson might get hurt here. Paul lands a couple of clumsy shots and Tyson wobbles backwards.
Tragic after three.
Verdict: 10-9 Paul
Round Four
This is proper rubbish. The crowd are bored and boos are being heard.
This is just two tired big lumps going at it. One a legend, one a promoter.
Verdict 10-9 Paul
Round Five
Paul jabs the body and aims right for the head and another one-two clips the icon.
Tyson cannot keep his mouthpiece in, he is gasping for air. Paul lands a left hook but then so does Tyson.
Verdict 10-9 Paul
Round Six
Thank God these weren't three-minute rounds. We are getting about four punches per round.
Tyson is gasping in the air but replays show a left hook did graze Paul's beard.
Verdict 10-9 Paul
Round Seven
Tyson slips a jab and tries an uppercut. The commentator admits it has been a "sad" spectacle.
The AT&T stadium has been utterly stunk out. Paul is looking just as tired as Tyson.
Verdict 10-9 Paul
Round Eight
Go back to YouTube, Jake. You're an excellent conman. But you've never been a boxer.
The Judges decide: 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73. I'm glad Tyson gets paid and has stayed safe.
But what a laughable performance from Paul to add to his stinker with Tommy Fury.
Verdict 10-9 Paul

Tyson enters heavyweight rankings after defeat to Paul
Mike Tyson is an incredible 183 PLACES behind Jake Paul in the BoxRec heavyweight rankings after his defeat to the social media star.
Tyson, 58, lost by unanimous decision to the influencer-turned-boxer as the pair put on an uninspiring fight in Texas last week.
It was Iron Mike's first time back in the professional ring since 2005, and as such he has re-entered the heavyweight standings.
His return to the sport he once dominated has seen him place in at 309th.
During his heyday, Tyson reigned as the undisputed world heavyweight champion between 1987 and 1990.
Now he sits just three spots above the likes of Terrell Jamal Woods, a 35-year-old fighter who has won just one of his last 15 fights and has a record of 29-62.
While relatively unknown fighters such as Bradford puncher Peter 'The Problem' Naylor sit way ahead of the boxing legend in the standings, despite Naylor never even fighting outside of Greater Manchester.
Jake Paul is currently ranked 126th in the world and is continuing to rise through the standings as he builds his boxing career with each fight.
Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson becomes one of the most-watched sports events EVER
Mike Tyson’s final bow defeat to Jake Paul has became one of the most-watched sporting events EVER after it joined a star-studded list.
Friday night’s bout might have fallen short of expectations in the ring but far exceeded Netflix’s hopes as it peaked at 65 million streams.
The platform called it a “record-breaking night”, but the stream wasn’t without issues as Netflix struggled to keep up with the high demand.
Viewers complained of freezing, buffering and resolution problems, as Netflix showed the bout to its hundreds of millions of subscribers without charging extra fees.
But regardless of the technical issues faced, Paul’s victory over a boxing icon 31 years his senior, became the 10th most-watched sporting event ever.
Gloves are off as Paul fires off X-rated rant
Paul has hit back at Carl Froch after the ex-world champion claimed he would beat him with “one arm tied behind his back”.
Paul, 27, beat Mike Tyson on points last night in a bout slammed by critics.
Froch, 47, was one of those who took aim at the Problem Child’s performance against the legend 31 years older than him.
He said: “He’s getting there, but he is not quite there. There will be plan for Jake Paul."
Paul responded with a tweet back, writing: “F****** sour loser. Shut the f*** up."

Paul responded on X by saying: “Just seen this….top 5 pound for pound fighter in the world calling me out. Hahahahahaha. 4 years in and I run this sport.”
Making history – and breaking Netflix
Not only was Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson the first combat sports event shown live on Netflix.
But it is officially one of the most-watched sports events EVER.

The platform called it a “record-breaking night”, but the stream wasn’t without issues as Netflix struggled to keep up with the high demand.
How Tyson prepared for his fight against Paul

What else do we need to know about the suspension?
The regulations state: "Medical disqualification of a contestant is for their own safety and may be made at the recommendation of the examining physician or TDLR [Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation].
"A contestant who disagrees with a medical disqualification, medical suspension or rest period set at the discretion of a ringside physician or a disqualification or suspension set by the department may request a hearing to show proof of fitness."
Why have Paul and Tyson been suspended?
Every fighter has to stay out the ring for at least seven days after a bout.
And rules state an extra that three days are added for each round fought.
With the clash going the full eight rounds, they are now both suspended for 24 days.
If Paul landed a knockout then Tyson would have faced 60 days away from the ring.
Tyson and Paul suspended
Mike Tyson and Jake Paul were both immediately suspended after the Problem Child beat the boxing legend, 58, in the Netflix fight.
The 58-year-old legend fought hard in his first professional fight since 2005 - but the man 31 years his junior was ultimately the winner.
However, as a result, the pair have now be suspended.
This is because the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation will order them to rest.
In case you missed it ...
Mike Tyson has claimed he nearly DIED just months before his controversial fight against Jake Paul.
The heavyweight great, 58, returned after nearly 20 years out of the ring as a pro, only to be beaten on points by YouTuber Paul.
But the mega-money bout in Texas was postponed from July 20 when Tyson suffered a stomach ulcer flare-up.
Iron Mike posted on Instagram: "This is one of those situations when you lost but still won.
"No regrets to get in the ring one last time.
"I almost died in June. Had eight blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lb in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight, so I won."
Tyson's reveal will spark more outrage over how he was passed fit to take part.
Paul, 27, said he pulled his punches on Friday night out of respect, adding: "I didn't want to hurt someone who didn't need to be hurt."

Mike Tyson reveals he ‘almost died’ in emotional post
Mike Tyson revealed he “almost died” by a health scare before his controversial fight with Jake Paul.
Tyson, 58, lost his return fight against the much younger Paul, 27, who won via unanimous decision on Friday at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.
The fight was initially scheduled to take place on July 20 but the heavyweight legend suffered a medical emergency on board a flight as a result of an ulcer flare up that postponed the fight.
Tyson took to social media to share a touching statement revealing his health took a nosedive and that almost cost his life in June.
Tommy Fury announces return to ring
Tommy Fury has announced his ring return – two years after beating Jake Paul last time out.
The former Love Island star will take on ex-UFC ace Darren Till at Manchester’s Co-op Live on DAZN PPV on January 18.
Tyson Fury‘s younger brother, 25, has been busy away from boxing and also split from long-term partner Molly-Mae Hague in August.
He’s won all his 10 bouts but the last was a controversial split-decision victory in February 2023 over Paul, who beat Mike Tyson this weekend.

Bellew controversially claims Jake Paul broke major rule vs Mike Tyson
Tony Bellew has claimed Jake Paul broke a rule during his win over Mike Tyson.
The 58-year-old boxing legend was beaten by the influencer-turned-boxer on points.
It took former boxer Bellew just seconds to spot a possible issue with Paul's gloves.
Before the highly-anticipated fight, it was agreed that 14oz gloves would be worn rather than 10oz ones usually worn in professional bouts.
The bigger gloves naturally slow punches down and lessen the impact of their blows, making a knockout more difficult.
But Bellew claimed Paul did not stick to the regulations, tweeting: "The gloves Mike has on are looking heavily padded while Jake has on grants which are full on punchers gloves.
"There is a huge difference in them gloves and I’m only watching from a bed."
Despite Bellew's opinion, there is no suggestion that Paul was in fact using banned gloves.
Jake Paul fires X-rated rant at Brit former world champ
Paul has hit back at Carl Froch after the ex-world champion claimed he would beat him with "one arm tied behind his back".
Paul, 27, beat Mike Tyson on points last night in a bout slammed by critics.
Froch, 47, was one of those who took aim at the Problem Child's performance against the legend 31 years older than him, he said:
"He's getting there, but he is not quite there. There will be plan for Jake Paul.
"I'll tell you what - my mobile phone won't be ringing, he won't be sending me and email, they won't be contacting my agent.
"I ain't calling him out, I am just letting you know, so that he knows, that I f****** know if I went in there with Jake Paul it would be an absolute mismatch.
"One round demolition job. I'd even tie one arm behind my back.
"Just imagine, one arm behind my back, lining him up with this right hand and then eventually leathering him with a big uppercut or a big overhand dirty stinker.
"Put him in the 'el sparko' position like he's been tasered."
Paul responded with a tweet back, writing: "F****** sour loser. Shut the f*** up.
"I've done more in four years than you have in your life.
"First and last time I respond to your broke salty a***. Let me know if you want to wash my cars."
