It was a dominant display by the midfield man who broke a Man Utd record in the match.

The Uruguayan EIGHT tackles Leicester City - no United player has won more in a single Premier League game since records began.

  • 'Let's keep it going'

Manuel Ugarte took to social media to send a message to Man Utd fans.

    Her wrote: "Necessary win.

";Thank you all for your support at home. Let’s keep it going.

    "This is Old Trafford."

  • More love for Ruud

  • Century for Bruno

Bruno Fernandes reached his Premier League century after scoring a goal and providing two assists in the win over Leicester.

Those three goal contributions make it 100 total (56 goals, 44 assists) in just 170 Prem games.

That's just a game more than Cristiano Ronaldo needed.

It was also Bruno's 250th game in all competitions for the Red Devils, with his overall totals at 156 (83 goals, 73 assists).

The Portuguese was handed a special shirt at the start of the game with photos of some of his best moments for the club.

  • More from Van Nistelrooy

The Dutchman had more to say on the win and his time at the club: "You saw the class of the team in our goals, we also gave very little away.

"We tried to stabilise after a difficult and emotional period. We wanted to get players performing at their best, we got the right feeling to them and got them believing in themselves.

"This spell was a big responsiblity, I took it very seriously. I wanted to help and get United into a better place, that was my goal.

"With three wins and a draw it's a standard where you want to grow to as a club.

"The connection with the fans was there, I really felt it. This is what United is really about."

  • Ruud's future

While Ruben Amorim has his first day at Old Trafford on Monday, Ruud van Nistelrooy's future remains up in the air.

There has not been any confirmation if he will become part of Amorim's staff or move into a different role.

Amorim is ecpected to bring a full staff with him, but it is understood that the Portuguese wants to meet with the Dutchman as soon as possible.

  • Ruud's time over

Some United fans will be wondering if they might be better off keeping Ruud in charge after the Dutchman made it three wins out of four as interim manager.

He said: "I really enjoyed it, it's been a short but amazing period. We are in an uncertain position but we tried to do our jobs and help the club which is important.

"There are a lot of feelings there, the way the fans supported me and the team always in difficult moments it was a special moment.

"To close down this block of games with good results and a good connection I can't thank them enough.

"We will learn what the further plan is now."

  • Ruud hails 'professional' performance

"It was professional, you could see that players were fighting through the game.

"We scored two great goals and there were some good bits but we didn't have real control of the game.

"It was an important three points. In the four games Bruno scored some important goals, assisting too so he is back producing. That's the Bruno that is helping the team the most.

"I spoke to Alejandro Garnacho before the game, he has played a lot of minutes and I wanted him to make an impact off the bench and I'm glad it worked out.

"We said 'let's make the most of these four games', get the maximum out of it and I think we did an OK job."

  • Garnacho's non-celebration

Bruno Fernandes suggested that Alejandro Garnacho's non-celebration was in response to some United fans who have "lost faith" in the winger.

Bruno said: "It was a good day at work, I have to say. We have a lot of players with big qualities, but people can get too excited after one game and too down after another.

"Garnacho scored a banger but didn't celebrate like he should because he thinks he has lost faith from some fans. I told him people will always moan but lots of people like you and enjoy what you do.

"I told him to celebrate, it was something special. He is a special player, we have difference makers. They are the ones who win us games. We want them to score every game but that isn't going to happen.

"The Fantasy managers won't be happy with you guys taking that goal off me."

  • Time for the new man to settle in

The timing of Ruben Amorim's appointment was well thought out.

With a two week international break, the Portuguese manager can get his feet under the table before turning his attentions to first team action.

That said, eleven games into the season, it is crazy we will have already had three international breaks.

  • View from SunSport's Martin Blackburn at Old Trafford

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s four game spell as interim boss ends with another comfortable win – meaning he has won three and drawn one.

At least United’s hierarchy know that if things don’t work out with Ruben Amorim, they have a safe pair of hands to pick up the reigns.

Bruno Fernandes was the key man here – scoring one, creating one and claiming another which will go down as an own goal.

But the Portuguese is kick-starting his season ready for the arrival of his countryman.
