Still best mates
It's Henderson who wins the trophy and the £10k prize.
But at the end of the day The Highlander and his fellow Scotsman Thornton as still best mates.
Brilliant sportsmanship from the pair. Well done to both for putting on a real show.
More from Henderson
I have not got bottle, I am the most nervous person on the circuit.
"But when that double six went in, I knew I had a chance.
"But Robert kept coming back! If that turn didn't go in at the last, I don't think I would have won that.
"Luckily, that went in."
Henderson's reaction
You do not know how much respect I have for Bobby Thornton.
"He's my best mate on the seniors tour, I love him to bits, and it was such a hard game to play in.
"You come up here playing against someone that's hard to hate.
"And you know you have to play well. Patches I played well, but it was nervy at the end. I was just glad to get over the line."
Thornton reacts
No, the better darts player won at the end, didn't he?
"I'll live to fight another day. There's a lot more world championships and more seniors to be played, so I ain't gonna give in."
Three's a crowd
So, John Henderson seals his third televised WSDT title of the year at the World Seniors Masters.
It was a gripping encounter with his best mate, Robert Thornton.
In the end, the big man was too good in Sunderland. He wins 6-5.
Hendo wins
What a finish!
John Henderson, The Highlander, wins with a 100 checkout.
He's crowned World Seniors Darts Masters.
He won that last set 5-3 in legs. Unbelievable.
This is entertainment
It's neck and neck in legs.
We're at three each in this mammoth contest.
If it goes to 5-5, we have a tiebreaker.
Someone has to win by two legs before then, but it's so tight.
The match is still tied at five sets each.
We're into a decider
Well, well, well.
Henderson has pulled off back-to-back sets to level it up.
We're now 5-5 and we're into a deciding a leg.
It's Thornton who is throwing for the match, though.
Crucial set!
Thornton stems the tide.
Just when it looked like Henderson might get back into it, his wily opponent sticks another knife in.
It's 5-3. And Thornton is one away from being crowned World Seniors Darts Masters champ.
Hendo within one
The Highlander is back in it.
It's now 3-4, with Henderson getting the set he desperately needed to put pressure on Thornton.
Over to you, Robert.
There's daylight
Back to back set wins for Thornton.
And he now leads Henderson 4-2, and he's on a roll.
Henderson going to have pull off a huge fightback now.
This game is flying by
Thornton led 2-1.
But Henderson has pegged him back now, and we're all square.
Not much between these two at all.
It's a Desmond, for now.
Thornton strikes first
And it's Thornton who goes ahead first!
He takes the first set to give Henderson something to think about.
This'll be a long night, though.
The final's immiment
It all kicks off at 9:40pm.
Thornton takes on Henderson, an all-Scottish affair.
Best of 11 sets this time.
It's all over!
Thornton roars into the final.
It's a comprehensive 5-2 win over Rowlands, in what really was no contest.
So, we have the all-Scottish final we hoped for.
Now this should be a classic.
Thornton almost home
It's 4-2 now to Robert Thornton.
He's almost home, and ready for a showdown with John Henderson.
All Rowlands can do is hang on in there.
Normal service resumed
Thornton nails the fourth set.
He leads 3-1, with Rowlands needing to stem the tide now.
The Scot is two away. The Welshman needs four sets.
It's looking inevitable.
Crucial set from Rowlands
Just as we said that, Rowlands is showing some real bottle here.
He's pulled a set back quite brilliantly.
Now we've got a semi-final on our hands.
It's 2-1 Thornton, for now...
Meanwhile
Robert Thornton has raced into a 2-0 lead.
The prospect of an all Scottish final is very much a possibility.
Can Rowlands reply?
And it's all over
Henderson is in the final, and he's closer to the £10,000 prize.
He has defeated Paul Hogan 5-3.
He'll face either Richard Rowlands or Robert Thornton.
That's up next!
Henderson leads again
John Henderson has just taken a 4-3 lead in this first to five semi.
Can Hogan fight back yet again? You wouldn't put it past him.
We're into set eight, and this is taking a lot out of The Highlander.
Not that you'd think it, he's hardly breaking a sweat out there.
Nothing separating them
We're level again.
The Highlander and Crocodile Dundee are at two sets each in this thrilling contest.
Don't forget, it's the best of nine - so first to five.
Hogan's level
Just when you thought Henderson would fire another set away, it's Hogan who has pegged him back.
We're all square now.
Hogan to throw first in set three.
He's not wasting any time
John Henderson takes the first set.
He leads Paul Hogan 1-0, and you wouldn't bet against him making the final.
The Scot is on fire.
