JOHN HIGGINS has won everything snooker has to offer - but he's fed up waiting to get his hands on silverware after a four-year trophy drought.

And the Scottish snooker hero was more than a little miffed after tournament organisers told him to come back in the evening session for a second successive day at the International Championship in Nanjing, China.

Higgins needs to lift the title this week to qualify for next week’s Champion of Champions.

And he's looking pretty good, forcing a decider only yesterday on a re-spotted black before being hauled off for slow play at 5-5 before he ultimately secured his quarter-final spot with a dramatic 6-5 win over Lyu Haotian.

Facing Chris Wakelin in his quarter final, again the Scot had just seen his advantage eroded as the Englishman forced a deciding frame at 5-5.

But there was a visible show of frustration when he learned that he would have to come back later on to finish the job.

Only yesterday, Higgins - who also made it all the way to the British Open final - was adamant that he would be back on the winners' podium soon.

He said: “I do believe there are titles left in the tank.

“I do think I will be tasting silverware again before I finish. That’s maybe the reason I’m still doing it.

“You never know what’s around the corner for you. You’ve just got to keep believing, keep putting the work it as much as you can at my age.”

Wakelin had previously led the match 3-1 and 4-2 before Higgins got his nose back in front at 5-4.

But it remains to be seen if the Scot can play his way into the final - as he bids to end a lengthy ranking trophy drought.
