Darts’ golden couple face ‘awkward and spicy’ encounter in World Championship first round
CAMERON MENZIES could face girlfriend Fallon Sherrock in the first round of the World Darts Championship.
The sport's power couple have both qualified for the upcoming blockbuster tournament at Ally Pally.
Menzies, 35, who recently won his first PDC rankings title, qualified through the Pro Tour Order of Merit.
While Sherrock, 30, landed her place through the PDC Women's Series.
And darts ace Vincent van der Voort, 48, believes a face-off between the loved-up pair would be both a "spicy and awkward encounter".
He told the Darts Draait Door podcast: "It would be really wonderful if boyfriend and girlfriend had to play each other at the World Championship.

"And not in the second round only, but right in the first round.
"It's great because prior to that spicy encounter you live in the same house for two and a half weeks while you know you have to compete against each other.
"That's still separate and awkward all the same. But I would find it the most fun scenario.
"There will always be extra tension on a match like this, because you have to play the person who has been with you all day.

"Then you hope for a loss for the other person, but you can get it yourself in this situation."
The pair, who got together in 2021, had their first date in KFC and moved in together a year later.
Menzies has credited Sherrock for helping him with his career.
He revealed: “She helps me tremendously. When we were dating in the beginning, I was in Scotland a lot and she was in England.
"But we often played against each other by video calling during practice sessions. And we still do practise together a lot.
"Honestly, without her I wouldn’t be where I am today. She also keeps pressing me to train because we both get lazy if we don’t practise.
"Who is the better of the two of us? I think I’m a tad better, but she’s better on stage when you're in the spotlight. She just handles that better."
Semi-pro Menzies, who works as a plumber to support his darts career, is known as a flamboyant player.
He got himself in trouble after labelling himself a "fat f***" live on air after winning his first PDC ranking title.
He could still face a fine from the Darts Regulation Authority for his colourful language.
The Scottish ace beat Stephen Bunting 8-4 to win the Players Championship 29 event in Leicester last Wednesday.
